Basics of Intune – Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based service focusing on mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Step 1: Sign in to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager Admin Centre

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to the “Microsoft Endpoint Manager Admin Centre”.
  2. Sign in with your admin credentials.

Step 2: Configure MDM Authority

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices.
  2. Click on Enrol devices.
  3. Select Set MDM authority.
  4. Choose Intune and click Add.

Step 3: Create a Device Compliance Policy

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices > Compliance policies.
  2. Click on Create Policy and choose Windows 10 and later.
  3. Provide a name and description of the policy.
  4. Configure the required settings, such as password requirements, device encryption, and antivirus settings.
  5. Click Create.

Step 4: Create a Device Configuration Profile

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices > Configuration profiles.
  2. Click on Create Profile and choose Windows 10 and later.
  3. Select a profile type, such as Device restrictions.
  4. Provide a name and description for the profile.
  5. Configure the necessary settings, such as password policies, browser settings, and Windows Defender settings.
  6. Click Create.

Step 5: Assign Configuration and Compliance Policies

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices > Configuration profiles.
  2. Click on the profile you created.
  3. Select Assignments.
  4. Choose the groups to which you want to assign the profile.
  5. Click Save.

Step 6: Enrol Devices

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices > Enrol devices.
  2. Choose the appropriate enrolment method (e.g., Windows Autopilot, Apple enrolment, Android enrolment).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the enrolment process.

Step 7: Monitor and Troubleshoot

  1. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices > Monitor.
  2. Review the compliance status, device configurations, and app statuses.
  3. Use the troubleshooting tools provided to resolve any issues.
